Final 2009 soccer rankings

by pinella

Here are Corner Kicks’ final boy and girls large-school Top 5 rankings for the season.

BOYS

1. Santa Rosa (20-4-2)
’09 magic is over; trick is to do it all over again in ’10.

2. Elsie Allen (13-9-2)
Too bad Lobos only played one good half against Marin Catholic in semis.

3. Casa Grande (14-9-2)
OK, OK, Gauchos were much better than anticipated in the postseason.

4. Analy (15-6-2)
Final ranking based on season record and performance vs. Marin Catholic.

5. Windsor (14-2-4)
Disappointing ending to an otherwise stellar season for the Jaguars.

—————————

GIRLS

1. Montgomery (22-2-1)
Vikings just hung around until a sophomore came to their rescue.

2. Casa Grande (15-3-3)
No 3-peat and tough ending to brilliant HS career for goalie Luis.

3. Maria Carrillo (18-3-1)
Simple: Talented Pumas couldn’t get ’er done against the Gauchos.

4. Santa Rosa (13-5-2)
Panthers didn’t falter in postseason without a fight.

5. Petaluma (10-5-3)
Trojans weren’t embarrassed by anyone; next year will be tough, 10 seniors will be missed.

Granted Analy played a strong game versus Marin Catholic but how can
Windsor be ranked below Analy…Windor tied Analy and beat Analy thoroughly towards the end of the season. They also finished first in the SCL to Analy’s 4th place finish…so what’s up with this, how can you justify this ridiculous ranking? Windsor did stumble in the playoffs, but lets be clear, they were head and shoulders above Analy

Question is, “can someone (NCS???) put together a final season ranking (D1 & D3 B&G) that includes ALL teams (from all leagues too), playoffs or not (like the NCAA’s – AP poll, coaches poll, etc.)?”

What a great season of soccer!! Lots of competitive teams in Sonoma County, lots of great match-ups. Was nice to see Elsie on the map this year in terms of soccer. Looking forward to the 2010 season. Bill-thanks for the blog.

    To all the Windsor fans,

You had the best team in the area and lost. Poor coaching????
    Bring back Tomas Acuna.

Stop complaining. You lost to an average Casa team when
    it counted most.

    To Soccerfan aka Windsor player:

Windsor tied Analy 0-0 at Windsor and beat Analy 2-1 at Analy. Hardly
head and shoulders. Then lost to a Casa team that Marin Catholic beat 4-0.

To Troy: An average Tamalpais team put 4 in on Sonoma and Windsor put 7 in on them. Don’t deserve to be ranked. In fact
Carrillo and Piner should be ranked ahead of you.

To Troy….guess what it’s Fanatico…and Sonoma didn’t beat #1 or #2….they did beat #3, #4 and #5, they also lost to #5 7-2, they lost to probably # 15 El Molino 2-3 and who could forget the loss at their own home field to TAM 4-3…so there is a reason not to have them in the top 5….definetly the top 10 but not the top 5….Fanatico agrees with Bill in his top 5 again the season counts but like the saying goes…it’s not how you start the race but how you finish….and SONOMA and WINDSOR finished early….real early….FANATICO OUT!!
